We're at the Holiday Inn Express in the Delhi Airport for our last night. The only beer in the lounge is a Bosnian beer called "Happy By Thursday." India never ceases to surprise me.
At the Jain Temple in Ranakpur, there is a statue of the founder's mother riding an elephant. Anyone that crawls under the elephant is said to have good luck the rest of their life. I got about halfway through when I realized I was much bigger than the average Indian person that this was designed for and started lizard-crawling my way out. Sis shouted "Lorenz! Take a picture!" So now I'm lucky.
We went to a Vishnu temple on Monday and I stepped into some green dye powder somewhere. It's Friday and I still have green speckles on my feet.
My mustache was born in Rajasthan 7 years ago. Yesterday it got a Rajasthani trim and I've had a slew of compliments on it since. I guess I need to come back more frequently for mustache trims.

Our hotel in Deogarh is like the Indian version of the hotel in The Shining. Every time I try to get anywhere, I feel like Shelley Duvall at the end, constantly trying to find the way out. I was navigating the MC Escher like hallways trying to find the way to the first floor when I ran into Sis and Lorenz. They said "We're trying to find our way back to our room."

About four times on this trip, locals have come up to me and asked me to pose with them for a photo. Our guide says that they print up the photo and have it in their house so that they tell their friends that they have connections in the US. So I will show up in homes in India.

Yesterday, I put on scrubs for the first time and got a tour of the EHCC hospital in Jaipur. Every room we went in, our host introduced us to the doctors. They pointed to David and said "This is Dr David Reich, anesthetist and president of Mt Sinai Hospital. He is visiting from New York." Then they would gesture to me and say "And this is Keith."

This was one of the most memorable nights of my life. I'm so lucky to have met and fallen in love with David. He is smart enough to be invited to speak around the world, generous enough to take me with him to share the adventure, and a good enough sport to let me post photos like this one. It was a magical evening.

When we arrived at our hotel, after traveling forever, a man walked behind me carrying a large umbrella to shield me from the sun. A woman showered me with rose petals. They gave me garland of flowers and a bindi. Then handed me fresh lychee juice. I'm a little spellbound.
